Student Personal Smart and Other Communication Devices

CELL PHONES & SMART DEVICES

Students may bring a cell phone or smart device to school and school-sponsored activities; however, these devices must remain turned off or set to "Do Not Disturb" and stowed completely away out of sight in backpacks during instructional time. Students may use their personal smart devices before school and after school, during passing periods, lunch, and brunch in designated, supervised areas. While individual teachers may utilize a designated Phone Parking Lot in their classrooms, the baseline requirement is that all smart devices remain put away. Device usage of any kind is strictly prohibited in bathrooms and locker rooms. Phone use on school buses remains at the sole discretion of the bus driver. Students are entirely responsible for the security of their personal devices. The district assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property (BP 5131). If a student violates this policy, the device will be confiscated and held in the front office until the end of the school day. Persistent violations will result in parent contact and a mandatory morning check-in protocol at the front office for a predetermined period.

Los estudiantes pueden traer un teléfono celular o dispositivo inteligente a la escuela y a las actividades patrocinadas por la escuela; sin embargo, estos dispositivos deben permanecer apagados o en modo 'No molestar' y guardados completamente fuera de la vista en sus mochilas durante el horario de clase. Los estudiantes pueden usar sus dispositivos inteligentes personales antes y después de clases, durante los cambios de clase, el almuerzo y el refrigerio en las áreas designadas y supervisadas. Si bien cada maestro puede utilizar un "Estacionamiento de teléfonos" (Phone Parking Lot) designado en sus salones de clase, el requisito básico es que todos los dispositivos inteligentes permanezcan guardados. El uso de cualquier tipo de dispositivo está estrictamente prohibido en los baños y vestidores. El uso del teléfono en los autobuses escolares queda a la entera discreción del conductor del autobús. Los estudiantes son totalmente responsables de la seguridad de sus dispositivos personales. El distrito no asume ninguna responsabilidad por propiedad personal perdida, robada o dañada (BP 5131). Si un estudiante viola esta política, el dispositivo será confiscado y se mantendrá en la oficina principal hasta el final de la jornada escolar. Las violaciones persistentes darán lugar al contacto con los padres y a un protocolo obligatorio de registro por la mañana en la oficina principal durante un período de tiempo predeterminado.
